LANDSCAPE DESIGN & INSTALLATION
• We strive to make our designs more diverse by using a wider variety of plant material than what is typically found in southern landscapes. We incorporate annual and perennial accents in selected spots in the landscape to provide color without being pretentious. We also incorporate many different types of foliage for more visual impact.• We prefer to design plants that will not out grow their surroundings. This method reduces pruning and possible deformation of plants over time.
Example: Typical landscapes most always incorporate large foundation shrubs planted too close to a structure and too close together. The landscape may look good from the start but over the years these shrubs will prove to be a chore and will eventually need to be replaced. At C.S. Coggins and Company we try to avoid this practice by following the recommended planting distances.
• We can provide professional computer drawings or hand sketches of our landscape designs.
IRRIGATION
We install systems using Hunter and Rainbird components. We can also troubleshoot, repair, and optimize your existing system.
DRIP IRRIGATION
• Drip irrigation is vital for plants and for water conservation. In many cases, systems are designed for landscape beds that are fitted with spray heads to water plant material. As time progresses shrubs mature and begin to block water from the spray heads. In addition, many plants do not like overhead water and much of it is lost through evaporation. Drip irrigation carries water through half inch poly tubing just below the mulch level with water distributed through emitters. Each emitter can distribute a designated amount of water based on the one installed. Emitters drip the water on the root ball versus overhead spray. Micro sprays and soakers can be added to cover flowers, perennials, containers and areas that are subject to frequent replanting.• Drip irrigation can be separated to run on a separate program from the turf irrigation. Turf irrigation requires less frequency of water than shrubs, trees and ornamental. The drip zone can be set to run as much as needed for maturity of plants and vice versa for overhead irrigation for sod.
• For folks without irrigation systems we can set up an above ground irrigation system running from a faucet. The main thing to remember, it is subject to freeze over winter.
WATER CONSERVATION DEVICES
NOZZLES:• Existing and new irrigation systems can be fitted with low flow nozzles.
• These nozzles can be used for distances from thirty feet and lower and significantly reduce the amount of water usage conserving water with the same rate of precipitation. SENSOR:
• A rain/freeze sensor is a must for any irrigation system. Sensors can be adjusted to interrupt the system at the adjusted rain gauge setting(e.g. 1/2") or if the temperature drops below thirty seven degrees.
WIRE TRACING AND VALVE SOLENOID LOCATION:
•We can locate underground wires, nicked or severed wires, and missing valves.
At Coggins and Company we always keep track of new technology and will always offer you the best solution for your landscape situation.
